Quick Start Guide
Sign up, import your first file, and see your dashboard in minutes.
This guide walks you through your first five minutes with JE-PFM — from creating an account to seeing your transactions on the dashboard.
Step 1: Create Your Account
- Visit the JE-PFM sign-up page and enter your email address and a password.
- Check your inbox for a verification email and click the confirmation link.
- Once confirmed, sign in to access your dashboard.
You can also sign in with Google or another supported OAuth provider if you prefer not to manage a separate password.
Step 2: Download a Bank Export
Before importing data into JE-PFM, you need a transaction file from your bank:
- Log in to your bank's website.
- Navigate to the account you want to export (checking, savings, credit card, etc.).
- Look for a "Download" or "Export" option — select OFX or QFX format.
- Choose a date range (the last 90 days is a good starting point) and download the file.
If your bank does not offer OFX/QFX, see the Importing Bank Data guide for alternative approaches.
Step 3: Import Into JE-PFM
- From your JE-PFM dashboard, click Import Transactions.
- Select the OFX or QFX file you downloaded.
- JE-PFM will parse the file, detect the account type and institution, and display a preview of the transactions.
- Confirm the import. Duplicate transactions (based on the bank's unique transaction IDs) are automatically skipped.
Step 4: Explore Your Dashboard
After importing, your dashboard shows:
- Account balances — a summary card for each imported account.
- Recent transactions — the latest activity across all accounts.
- Spending summary — a breakdown of where your money went during the selected period.
From here you can set up budgets, create expense reports, or import additional accounts. Each of these topics is covered in detail in later sections of this documentation.
