Tracking Budget Progress

Once you have budgets set up, JE-PFM tracks your spending in real time as transactions are imported and categorized.

The Budget Dashboard

The Budgets page shows each active budget with:

• Category name and monthly target amount.
• Spent so far — the total of categorized debit transactions for the current month.
• Remaining — how much of the budget is left.
• Progress bar — a visual indicator that turns from green to yellow to red as you approach and exceed the target.

Pace Indicator

JE-PFM calculates whether you are ahead or behind pace for the month. If you are halfway through the month and have spent less than half your budget, you are on track. If you are over pace, the dashboard highlights the category so you can adjust your spending.

Notifications

You can enable budget alerts that notify you when:

• A category reaches 80% of its budget (approaching the limit).
• A category exceeds 100% of its budget (over budget).

Alerts appear as in-app notifications and optionally as email notifications.

Monthly Comparison

At the end of each month, the budget summary compares your actual spending to your targets. You can review this data for any past month from the Budgets > History tab. This helps you identify categories where you consistently over- or under-spend so you can adjust your targets.

Adjusting Budgets

You can change a budget amount at any time. The new amount applies to the current month going forward. Past months retain their original targets for accurate historical comparison.
